SUMMARY:Write Your First Novel
DESCRIPTION:If you have a great idea for a novel but haven't yet found the time-or the courage-to sit down and turn your idea into reality\, this introductory class is for you. This course will help you begin to write the novel you want to write\, and do so in a way that will draw your reader in from the very first sentence. You will learn the building blocks that make up quality fiction: plot\, character development\, narrator and point of view\, dialogue\, and voice. You will spend time beginning to write your novel\, and share excerpts of your drafts with each other in a "writer's workshop" format. This course prioritizes the creative process: learn how to tap into your imagination and how to write in a style that is authentically yours. You'll write 8 to 10 pages of your novel-in-process each week\, but most of all\, have fun with your classmates as we take this literary journey together. At the end of the course\, we'll discuss the publishing process-agents\, editors\, and the book business so you will know what happens after you've finished that first full draft.
