Inkwell Academic Residential Writing Retreat
Are you so buried by teaching and service demands that you just can't make space for writing? Do you regularly declare to yourself that today you will spend a certain amount of time writing, but somehow end up writing for half that time, if at all? Perhaps you feel that whatever you do, it won't be 'enough" to finish your dissertation or publish your manuscript. InkWell’s Residential Writing Retreat is for faculty members, graduate students, and post-docs who want to prioritize, make progress on, and sustain their writing once they return home.
Facilitated by Michelle Boyd, PhD, founder of InkWell Academic Writing Retreats, this intimate, small group retreat is a week-long training program is best suited for scholars who want to change how they relate to their writing. Its proven curriculum combines powerful reflective practices with concrete, actionable strategies that allow you to uncover your writing process and lose yourself in your writing.
By the end of the retreat, you will not only have made significant, measurable progress on your manuscript. More importantly, you will also understand what to do to look forward to writing instead of dreading it; stay focused during writing sessions; feel satisfied by the quantity and quality of writing you complete; and recover your capacity for guilt-free leisure time. The Residential Writing Retreat includes:

- gorgeous writing environments with multiple nooks for writing in solitude or companionship
- healthy, delicious snacks and meals, freshly prepared, in accordance with your dietary restrictions
- peaceful sleeping quarters?, with private or shared bath, that restore your energy for work and for play

"Michelle Boyd’s Writing Retreat is, quite simply, zen: it is work, meditation, and joy all rolled into a journey of discovering who you are as a writer. Michelle closely works with each writer to establish realistic and measurable goals and provides practical strategies to achieve them. Her retreat enabled me to produce as much writing in five days as I would in five months on my own. Whether you are a creative writer facing a block or an academic writer learning to navigate academia, Michelle will help you find a writing path uniquely suited to your needs. This retreat is indispensable for those who want to write a lot while also maintaining a healthy work-life balance."
--Assistant Professor, Comprehensive University
"Call me mad, but I travelled half way around the world to participate in this writing retreat, and it was so worth it. Prior to the retreat my writing process had become an ugly thing, messy, disorganized, and ultimately unproductive. Now, though, I have acquired new habits and put an end to the activities that had been holding me back. I would strongly recommend this retreat to anyone who wants to become less anxious, better organised, and more productive."
--Anthony Patterson, Professor of Marketing, University of Liverpool
"This holistic model really freed me up to be intentional and productive in my work."
--Fay Rosner, Assistant Professor of Instruction, Northwestern University
