Event: THREE SISTERS VINEYARDS' ANNUAL ST. PATTY’S DAY CELEBRATION
When: 3/15/2008 - 3/16/2008
Where: Three Sisters Vineyards & Winery
Second Weekend - March 15 & 16
Three Sisters Vineyards presents the annual "St Patty's Day Celebration" March 15th and 16th, 2008. (Saturday 12:30-5:00PM-Sunday 1PM-5PM. On Saturday, the Georgia musical group Mulligan Stew will present a healthy portion of traditional Irish, Celtic, and Appalachian music for festival attendees. The members of this savory musical trio are Tom Ryan, Jim O'Connor and Lisa Deaton.
Tom Ryan plays fiddle, and claw hammer banjo. He began to play banjo while working out west in a logging camp with some West Virginia boys. Intrigued by haunting melodies of the Appalachian Mountains, Tom learned to accompany fiddle tunes with his distinctive style of playing. Soon thereafter, he became interested in fiddle, and today he serves up Irish and American traditional tunes to suit the most discriminating tastes.
Though Jim O'Connor grew up in Pennsylvania, he also made his way west. During his many adventures, he became acquainted with several Irish musicians who taught him to play and sing the tunes of their homeland. It's easy to understand how he caught on to them so well with a name like O'Connor. Adept on guitar and mandolin, Jim also mesmerizes audiences with tunes on the penny whistle.
Lisa Deaton plays guitar, bass, and bodhran. Once she heard an Irish fiddle tune, her life was changed forever. "LD" as she is locally known, is also a singer. She loves a good ballad and will travel a long way to learn one or to sing one she already knows. Though she is particular to minor tunes and sad songs, she throws in a bit of humor to keep the audience guessing.
No general reservations are required. Complimentary tastings plus the Three Sisters' paid "Vintner's Tasting" will be offered both days. A new shipment of Sweet Grass Dairy Cheeses -featuring "Green Hill" semi-soft cow cheese will be sampled during the event.
