Tree Dedication--- Calling All Tree Lovers!
As we continue to celebrating our designation as a Tree City, the City of Dahlonega and Save Georgia’s Hemlocks are inviting everyone to attend a special event during Bear on the Square. At 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22 there will be a brief presentation and ceremony to dedicate four large hemlock saplings that have been planted at Wimpy Mill Park across from the old water treatment plant at the intersection of Wimpy Mill Rd. and Sky County Rd.
The project to install these trees was spearheaded by City Councilman Sam Norton and is meant to serve two purposes – to enhance an already lovely spot for the public’s enjoyment and to raise awareness of the grave threat our native hemlocks are facing from an invasive insect called hemlock woolly adelgid. So please join us this Saturday at Wimpy Mill Park to share in the celebration and learn how you can help keep our community beautiful.
