UNG Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band: “Something Old, Something New”
On Thursday, February 21, 2019, the UNG Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will present an evening of music representing a wide variety of composers and styles. In addition to some fantastic classics such as English Suite by Clare Grundman and Satiric Dances by Norman Dello Joio, the Georgia premiere of Hung Aloft the Night by Anthony O’Toole will be performed. UNG bands were a part of the consortium to commission this beautiful new work. Also on the program is the winner of our inaugural Concerto Competition, Jared Graham, euphonium soloist. The evening will conclude with Robert Sheldon’s Danzas Cubanas, which will be played by the combination of both bands. The members of the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic band are UNG undergraduates representing a wide variety of majors. Both ensembles are under the direction of Dr. J. Ashley Jarrell. Admission is free for this 7:30 p.m. concert which will take place in the Carlos and Sandra Cervantes Concert Hall at Riverside Military Academy.
